Rev. Richard F. Stone, 90, of Canton, handed absent peacefully in the early night on July 31, 2021 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with his loving wife and daughter by his facet a several hrs earlier.

Richard (Dick) was born on Feb. 22, 1931 to Willis and Muriel (Mahoney) Stone in Waterloo, New York. He graduated from Waterloo High School Grove Town University in Pennsylvania and Princeton Theology Seminary in New Jersey. Dick married his spouse, Jeanne Irland, on Oct. 24, 1951 in Seneca Falls.

Dick was ordained on July 10, 1957 by the Presbytery of Geneva-Lyons. He was a minister at the Memorial Presbyterian Church of Bellona, Westminster Presbyterian Church of Hornell and The Initially Presbyterian Church of Canton (for 30 a long time), giving healing ministry. Dick served as the Moderator of the Presbytery of Northern New York, the Canton Clergy Corporation, and numerous Ecumenical packages. He also was a member of Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, the Kiwanis Club, the Canton Youth Center and several village, town and county committees.

Dick commenced the Church and Group Employee application with Rev Max Coots. He also worked with many others founding the St. Lawrence County Dairy Princess Festival, both of which are even now in existence these days.

Subsequent his retirement, Dick attended the Saranac Lake Presbyterian Church and was on a number of committees which incorporated: Saranac Lake Clergy Affiliation and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He continued to be a member of Kiwanis and was a founding member of the Wild Center in Tupper Lake.

Dick cherished God, his family members, his ministry to other people and world mission. In addition, Dick cherished the Adirondacks, outdoor, tenting, canoeing and the St. Lawrence River location, all with passion.

Dick is survived by his loving spouse Jeanne of Canton, his daughter Lisa (Mike) Stone Ames of Canton, his son Mark Stone (Partner Cathy Boyle) of Overland Park, Kansas, his sister-in-regulation Linda (Edward) Flannigan of Savannah, Georgia, as well as 5 granddaughters, Heather, Lauren, Kimberly, Kristen and Kelly.

Dick was predeceased by his son Kirk, his mother and father, his brother Robert Stone and brother-in-legislation David Irland.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Residence, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. A Celebration of Everyday living is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 6, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake with the Pastor JoAnne White officiating. The relatives welcomes you to be part of them at the Burial on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Canton.
